Wilder Wellbeing Programme

Our next Wilder Wellbeing programmes

Programmes are run on an ad-hoc basis in line with funding, but we try to ensure that there are programmes evenly spread across the county. We will keep the programme availability up to date on this webpage.

Sandwich and Pegwell Bay Country Park, CT12 5JB

12 June - 24 July, Wednesday mornings

This programme is tailored to adults who are 65 and over. Sessions will include gentle walks along the accessible coastline where there will be opportunities to rest on the benches and enjoy watching wildlife. It's a chance to meet others and forge connections while appreciating nature. Participants can take part in relaxation techniques and nature-based crafts.

Carers are welcome to come along and support individuals. Toilet and parking is available on site. Please get in touch if you need assistance with travel costs to attend the sessions.

Fill out the registration form

Programmes in Maidstone, Sevenoaks and Medway are coming soon. For more information about any of our programmes or to be added to the waiting list, email us at wilderwellbeing@kentwildlife.org.uk

PLEASE NOTE: Please fill out the online enrolment form. Once this has been submitted a member of the Wilder Wellbeing team will be in touch to discuss the course/s you'd like to join and book you on. Please note that filling the generic enrolment form does not book you onto the programmes, you must have had contact with a member of the Wilder Wellbeing member to do this. Please do not turn up to any Wilder Wellbeing programmes

About Wilder Wellbeing

We are offering a six week programme to experience the wellbeing benefits nature has to offer, within a group setting. Sessions are gentle-paced, where we will take notice of the nature around us and take part in some simple relaxation techniques.

These programmes are designed for individuals who may be experiencing a lowered wellbeing, living with mental of physical health conditions, or are feeling lonely and isolated. Programmes are run on an ad-hoc basis but previously have run in Ashford, Blean, and are due to come to Thanet, Deal and other areas in Kent soon.

Participants can be referred onto these sessions by a social prescriber or can self-refer through our options on this page.

A new report by the Wildlife Trusts...

... reveals how green prescribing could save the NHS hundreds of millions of pounds each year.

A Natural Health Service: Improving Lives and Saving Money analysed five Wildlife Trusts programmes to see how they benefitted the NHS. If just one of these programmes was offered to everyone likely to take them up, it could result in annual cost savings of more than £635 million.

More Info

Sessions are free, but you must have completed a registration form prior to joining the programme. These are not drop in sessions, but a 6 week programme which we ask participants to attend in full (although we understand events such as sickness may occur) - this is so you can receive the full benefit of the programme to your wellbeing. Programmes run in line with funding, so if there isn't one in your area currently, please do check the webpage at a later date.

Please bring any refreshments you may want and wear suitable attire for the weather. Facilities and accessibility of the site can be checked on our website reserve page, or a member of the Wilder Wellbeing team can answer any questions.

If you have any questions, or would like to register, please contact Vicky, the Nature and Wellbeing Officer.
